Moving on

Happy Sunday everyone! I feel so much better a combination of a long hot bubbly bath, a good nights sleep and a happier baby means I'm feeling human again.

We also got our keys yesterday, to start the moving process, we can't properly move in yet as we won't have a bed until Tuesday but we've managed to get about half of our things over there between the two of us. Phil is working today and won't be home until about 2am so my mums coming over for a bit to see the new flat and maybe go for a walk.

Tonight I'm going to be watching PS I Love You(not as good as the book but I'll still watch) and painting my nails in my PJ's. This is dependent on Seb being asleep at a reasonable time! I might even have a fish finger sandwich rather then a proper cooked meal as I'll be on my own. What are you all upto today?

I've got lots of posts planned for the next few weeks so fingers crossed my blog may become mildly more interesting to read

Seb's got his first lot of jabs tomorrow morning, wish us luck!

Uninspired

I feel so bleurghh and unispired at the moment. Seb has had a poorly tummy over the last couple of days making him very grumpy and clingy resulting in me being so tired i could sleep standing up. He seems to be on the mend though so fingers crossed we get a decent nights sleep tonight! Stick with me and i'll be back on form soon, i'm sure.
We get the keys to our new home tomorrow morning, i can't wait and have been looking online at things to buy as its bigger then where we are now, i'll have a decent amount of kitchen space to fill! My first new buy is this biscuit tin from ebay, i think they sold tins of party rings at christmas a few years ago and am guessing this is one of the tins, it'll be fab full of treats.
I've also been on Amazon and got myself An Education on DVD, i've not seen this so can't wait to sit and watch it. Has anyone else seen it? Is is good?

I also got this book through the second hand bit on Amazon, its been on my wishlist for ages.
I can tell Seb is feeling better from the fun he had in the bath this morning. He's getting so big now :)
Hope you all have fab weekends xxx

Every cloud

We've had a nightmare few days, the boiler broke down(again) overnight on Friday so we were left with no heating or hot water, not good in January. So we called our landlord who instead of ringing someone to come and look at it, decided to come over that afternoon look at it, see the same thing that we'd already told her(the light is red, its broken down) then go saying she would call a friend to come and look at it. It was bloody freezing so me and Seb packed up and went to my mums for the night as we were sure it wouldn't be fixed that day. In the end it wasn't fixed until Monday, so i had to stay at my parents.
On thee plus side we are moving out of here next Tuesday! We got the flat a few doors down, we can have the keys at the weekend to start moving bits in but the official moving day is Tuesday. I'm so pleased, much as i love this flat, theres been so many problems that its laughable.
It was very strange staying at my mum and dads, 2 of the dogs are in love with Seb and while he was having sleeps kept going to check on him.
I'm loving ebay at the moment, Seb is fast outgrowing his 0-3 months clothes so i've been buying the next size and managed to snag this bundle of 10 tops for £1.04
and these 2 pairs of dungarees for 99p!He is getting bigger by the day, i'm hoping to get him weighed tomorrow, he's 8 weeks now and feels so heavy!

One good thing about staying at my parents is that i could go for lovely long walks with the pram, Seb loves his fresh air.
Fashiony posts will resume tomorrow xx

Review: Lush Lip Scrub

This is one of the few products that i've never tried despite picking them up and having a sniff at the tills plenty of times, i get chapped lips so thought it might be a bit harsh.
At Christmas, Phils mum got me a Lush gift box and it had a lip scrub inside. Its called lip dip which i believe is a limited edition flavour for Christmas but you can see the permanant flavours here.
Lip Dip is described on the packaging as being a sherbert, cranberry and lemon flavoured lip scrub and it so true. It smells just like sherbert lemon sweets, i didn't get any cranberry smells in there at all.
The conisitancy is thicker then i expected, its a bit like toothpaste if that makes sense? To use all you need to do is rub some all over your lips gently and then lick off! I was surprised how little you need to use each time but it does mean a pot would last for ages. The testure is scrubby but not too scratchy so it doesn't make you sore. Licking off the scrub is a pleasure, it tastes gorgeous and i think it makes the product a bit quirky.
After using it i've been left with really smooth and soft lips, its perfect for using before applying lippie. So all in all its a thumbs up from me!
Have you tried one of these? xx

What is everyone upto this weekend? Tomorrow afternoon we're off to the opening of a new Childrens centre, to see what they have there, i'm hoping they run some mum and baby groups as i can't find any for small babies running nearby at the moment. Tomorrow night we're having the inlaws over as they are going on holiday in the week and want to see Seb before they go. Sunday is shopping delivery day. And Monday, who knows?!

Parklife

We've had a lovely couple of days. Yesterday i took Seb to go and meet Phil from work to surprise him as he was feeling a bit down/tired, I took Seb in the sling and he loved having a good look at everything that was going on, then i took them both to the pub for a drink(milk for Seb!) before heading home. Here is the little man snug in his snowsuit and sling attatched to me.
Then today Phil had a late start so we had a massive clean while Seb slept and then went for a walk to the park. There is a huge park literally 5 minutes walk from our front door so Phil just carried Seb so that he could see what was going on as he can't see much from his pram and he is a nosey parker these days. Heres what i'm wearing today...

Black v neck tee-H&M worn under, Black eiffel tower swing top-Primark, Black leggings-ASOS, Grey cardi-La Redoute

Pumps-La Redoute

I wore my Primark knitted headband for outside and my chunky scarf which was a birthday present and matched the headband perfectly.

God i look rough without make up!

It was all very hard work for Seb as you can see!

On the new home front, a flat has gone up for rent in the same house, so we're going to view it, its bigger and has just been renovated so fingers crossed. I love where we live as we have such lovely neighbours.

Blue Monday?

Today is meant to be the most depressing day of the year. Not here its not!
I'm sorry for the lack of posting over the last few days, we've been very busy trying to find ourselves somewhere new to live as our landlord has failed to do anything about the damp we discovered before Seb was born despite promises that were made to us, its just getting worse, and its not healthy so we're leaving. It might mean a brief stay at our parents if we can't find somewhere in the next week or so but its better then having Seb in here.

Yesterday i went shopping with my mum while Seb went to watch a rugby match with his dad, it was the first time i'd left him and i sobbed all the way to the shops(even though i knew he was fine!). To be honest i wasn't that inspired with the clothes in the shops, i tried a couple of dresses on but they were very similar to things i already own. So nothing new clothes wise but i picked up a few bits.

I got these shoeboots from Wallis, its not where i usually shop, but they do some fab shoes, i love that these have a wearable heel as well as being really funky. They were a bargain too reduced from £47 to £15.

I also got 3 charm necklaces from Primark, i can't resist a cute necklace!
A wired headband, this is so easy to use!
And a huge nautical scarf, my mum was telling me how my nan has loads of gorgeous scarves like this from Liberty that shes had for years, hidden away. Next time i get the chance to go and visit her i'm going to try and ferret them out.
Seb did pretty well out of my trip too.

Last week i went to my local MIND shop to pick up some new books, i nearly always get my books from charity shops. While in there i also grabbed this for Seb, its so cute and was brand new with tags on for the grand price of 50p! xxxx

Chocolate chip shortbread

I'm not sure why but i'd never made shortbread until last week, but with my monthly missions in mind i set about making some. It was really easy and tasted sooo good. I got a basic recepie from the BBC website but have adapted it a little bit.
125g/4oz butter
55g/2oz caster sugar
180g/6oz plain flour
chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 190C or Gas mark 5.
Put the butter and sugar into a mixing bowl and beat until smooth, then stir in the flour and chocolate chips until it forms a dough.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll out until it is about 1cm thick.
Cut your biscuits, i made mine round but you can cut into fingers or any other shape you'd like, pop them onto a greased baking tray and put them into the fridge for about 20 minutes.
Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until pale golden-brown. Sprinkle with sugar(i went a bit overboard here!) and leave to cool.
This recipie made 15 biscuits, but it depends on the size/shape of biscuits you want to make.
Voila!

Apple of my eye

Is anyone else having problems uploading pictures on blogger? Its taken me ages to do this post...
Anyways here is yesterdays outfit. I love my apple print dress, I've not worn it in forever as its not fitted but yay for getting back into it! I'm also loving my tights, they kept me warm while it was freezing outside.

Real hot chocolate

I was asked ages ago how i make my hot chocolate and kept meaning to do this post but have only just gotton round to it.
I like any kind of hot chocolate but the ones you see in the photos i've posted are the real thing rather then instant. I only make them this way when i'm treating myself otherwise i just use instant(Cadburys or Aero. yum) for speed and ease.

Heres how i make it, this is enough for 2 good servings
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder- i usually use Cadbury's
  • 150ml single cream
  • 500ml milk, plus 2 tablespoons seperate
  • mini marshmallows-i get mine from Asda
Firstly mix the cocoa powder with the 2 tablespoons of milk to form a paste. Over a lo
w heat bring the cream to just below boiling point. Take the cream from the heat, add the milk and then bring it all to the boil, whisking every now and then. Now add the cocoa paste and whisk to combine it all together.
Divide the hot chocolate between two cups and add marshmallows on top(as many as you like!) I love how the marshmallows go all melty and gooey.

Ins and Outs

In

Matte Nails- i've been madly using my matte topcoat over everything, i love it.

Quirky prints-I always love a random print, i fell in love with a dress in Zara in the print in the picture below, sadly the dress was totally the wrong shape on me but i still love that print.

QVC- I hate to admit it but i seem to have developed a minor addiction to the shopping channel. I've never actually ordered but can quite happily waste an hour watching(especially their beauty hours) while feeding Seb.

Primark PJ's- cheap, comfy and cute! Pair with cosy socks for a perfect combination.

Out

I've lost my beloved Marc Jacobs necklace :( I wore it out shopping last week and i think i left in Topshops changing rooms but nobodys handed it in. I'm so gutted as i loved it so much.

Taking down the Christmas decorations-i hate the bare looking room when the decorations come down.

Mess!-Seb seems to have a sensor inside that everytime i start to tidy and clean he wakes up!

Outfit of the night

Last night we went for a meal to a restaurant called the Cow Shed in Wakefield. I've never been before but i knew about the building as it dates from the 16th century and Joanne Harris created the novel Chocolat around it.

The food was absolutely beautiful, i had breaded brie with red pepper relish for a starter and then a steak for mains. I could have eaten the Brie over and over it was so delicious. It was fab that you could see the chef at work too. The staff were really friendly and it we were able to take Seb in his pram and have him at the end of the table(he slept the whole time!) and not feel in the way.

These photos are awful, but here is what i was wearing
Leopard wrapover dress-Topshop, black opaques
Patant bow shoes-Topshop
And Seb wore his lovely car jumper from Marks and Spencer, its so gorgeous and soft!

I hope everyones having a good start to the new year xxx
