I went to uni in Northampton, a town famous for shoes and boots. The film Kinky Boots was set there and they have a fab museum which has a famous shoe collection.as i'm a shoe girl i visited a few times.
They have a section on the history of shoes and information on shoes from around the world. One of the pairs of shoes are heel less courts made in the 1950's, and now sported by the likes of Victoria Beckham. It makes me smile how trends come back around and are touted as being original.
